1778T guitar worst nightmare - middle of a gig last night, battery light started blinking. after the gig took out the pre-amp, replaced the 9 volt, went to put pre-amp back, pre-amp got stuck, pushed it in, and somehow managed to break off a plastic part and the end opposite the removal button no longer stays down.

Found the plastic part but can't find where it came off from to re-glue it, although doubt glue would hold it.

Am I stuck now with having to replace the entire pre-amp unit and housing and having a tech reconnect the wiring, etc???

Of all my ovations, this is my favorite, used for just about every one of my gigs.

Anyone have this happen?

I tried keeping the end down by wedging a pick in the crack and it works, but gads, an unusual solution and I picture it popping out in the middle of a gig and having no sound through the house system.

I would contact Alpep on here or contact Ovation Customer Support (their info is on their website). If it's the tab from the can at the end of the screw, they may be able to just sent you the part. I don't think electronics are under warranty, but it's worth a call to see what to do.

One of my students did that with her guitar. We managed to shove a little piece of cardboard in on the side and that held it in place. Of course, every time she has to change the battery we have to do it again, but once it's in place, it stays there.

or put a "OpPro can wanted" (or whatever preamp it is) post in the for sale section. There may be a member or two that have an extra.

I just recently had the same thing happen while a guitar was on loan. A member came to the rescue.

(Thanks again M)

Someone posted recently about an OpPro that blew up (on the thread about phantom power). If you hunt down that person, you may be able to put something together from that.
