Hi, I have a Ovation mandolin that i love,. but I am having tuner trouble, they stick when tuning and seem to slip quite a bit. so I have to be tuning all the time.
I am gonna replace then with a new set of Grover's and was wondering if it a one size fits all kind of thing, or do i need a special set?
thanks

What model mando is it?

I'm not sure if the USA vs. Korean have different tuners . .

USA mandos have Schaller 4 on a plate tuners, the imports have cheap copies of the Schallers which are pretty sloppy in use. The schallers can be fitted to the imports. If it's a USA mando it could be that the tuners are faulty. The sticking issue could be down to worn or badly cut nut slots.

Thanks guys, it is a import, and the mando is only 6 mths old. I had a great luthier set it up for me and he changed the nut to a bone nut for me and set her up with a low action the way i like it.
He said that the mando was nice but he thought the tuners were crap and wondered why they would use such crappy tuners on a decent product.
I'm wanting to change them myself because a luthier looks at it, it cost a fortune...LOL
I have Grover's on my two other mandos and on my guitar, that's why I wanted to put on Grover's..they been great for me this far.

Hey guys, I finally got the tuners changed, It was a easy job, I used Grover tuners but the bushings fr the Grover's were to big, so I just kept the old bushings in there, don't look as good as the Grover bushings, but beats reaming/drilling.
The new tuners made a big difference. Cut down on tuning. I use to tune 2-3 tines every a set,[50 Min's] now I just tune once.
Gotta love that.
