So, I had to pick it up because it's a wideneck and it was REALLY inexpensive. It's an Academy KA-17. I wasn't expecting much because it's supposed to be "low end," and no great shakes and all that. However, I'm very pleased to report that I was very pleasantly surprised at the sound.

I put it through some paces with another meditation-type song. It's at: this link . First song in the list on the left, or top song in the body of the page itself.

The nice wide neck felt great in my hands, and, as I mentioned before, I was really pleased with the sound. The RECORDED sound, however, is more than a tad tinny. NOT the fault of the guitar, but rather that of the ZOOM H4.

I figure I did something wrong with the recorder, because it has turned out some nice sounds before.

All in all, I'm guessing it'll be the perfect travel/campfire guitar.

Thanks, seesquare!

Yep. The sound surprised me the most. It's resonant, projects nicely, has bass and fullness. It's NOT an Adamas 2080, but it doesn't advertise itself as such. Here's what I obsrved in a nutshell: It's 90% of a high-end guitar at 10% of the price. A GREAT value!

I've got two 14s and they're wonderful.

I'm pleased, that you're pleased. They really are phenomenal instruments. True Gestalt: "The whole is greater than the sum of the parts."
