Yeah, you need to have a compliment of them that you can "swap out" thru before each gig, and as they get "older", they tend to hold a charge less & less . . .

all rechargeables are not equal. Many are "underpowered" as measured in AmH. Make Sure you get a good NiMH such as Eneloop (amazon carries them) or PowerEx. These have very good AmpHour ratings and hold their charge over long periods of time.

I love it when you talk dirty...

I've tried lots of different brands of rechargables. The two Jeff mentioned are very good.
The absolute best I've ever used were Sony. These things seem to last forever compared to the other brands I've tried. And they make an excellent AA/AAA charger that can refresh/recharge up to 4 batteries independently.
Sadly, I haven't been able to find them in a 9 volt.

I've recharged my alkalines a few times, even though they say not to. It works for awhile until they blow up. (In the charger, not in the guitar.) I go for months without plugging in, so mine go dead from sitting, rather than from use.
