Hey all

I have a Matrix 1132-4, well used (well... ..why not?) Serial # 144154 and i'd love to know why it has 'MATRIX' emblazened on the head rather than the traditional 'Ovation'insignia. Was this something to do with particular manufacturing periods/locations? or have I been worshiping some kind of false god?.
I have seen a few other 1132's but none with this branding.

Any info graciously recieved.

I've seen some with that. Mine says Ovation and was built in 1976, bought new in 1977. Yours has a later serial number. I think they were all made in the USA. Does yours have the aluminum fretboard?

That's what they said then. First Medallion then MTX. I'd bet it does have the Al fingerboard.

I've got a 1975 Medallion 1132-4, Ser # 054231 with the aluminum fretboard. I wonder how many guitars were branded with the Medallion logo before Ovation changed the name to Matrix to settle a legal challenge from Gibson?

Mine's a 1976 with Ovation on the headstock, but the manual refers to it as a Matrix. It does not say Matrix on the label inside, like many I've seen.
