I don't know how many of you have a web site at MySpace.music, but I'll bet you didn't know this:

Definately should be a concern for those musicians with legitimate talent (which leaves me out!)

Does this imply that they're saving songs, and may whip them back out after you've "deleted" them?

Bragg is more notable as a political activist than a musician, and while he's written a couple of decent songs, he can hardly be considered cutting edge. That said, I always find myself agreeing with him on a political level but I think he's off the mark by a long way here. I would never be an apologist for an asshole like Murdoch, but at at a grassroots level it strikes me that Myspace does far more good than harm for musicians. Particularly as a way to network and build a fan base. It'll be interesting to see if anything litigious develops down the road over copyright, but as no-one else except BB seems to be concerned right now, it looks like a storm in a teacup. Maybe Billy hasn't been getting enough column inches lately.

I have a MySpace page for keeping in contact with a load of young people from my church and community, as well as networking with relationships that came via MySpace. There are a lot of Christian artists that use MySpace for promotion as well as a global net of musicians. I have found the site to be a good way to discover music and artists I would not otherwise, mostly because every day some new band wants to be my 'friend'. I value some of those connections, and think Paul T. is quite right in that it does more good than harm.
