the guitar just arrived, and is absolutely stunning for it's age, it does have one flaw that I was able to find, but is minty other than that.

see if you can spot the flaw in the pictures, should be pretty easy for most of you to spot and will be an easy fix for me tho it will take a piece from the mothership or my local luthier.

no nicks, dings, scrapes, cracks or swirls anywhere. almost no fretwear, and all documentation, original hangtags, registration, owners manual, kaman promos, string promos, and coa. it is #1293 of 1908 made that production run.

the action is dead on for me(lowwww), and the neck is straight and solid.

battery/preamp dead as a doornail, haven't changed the strings(dead also) or battery yet but have no reason to worry unless the original 9volt has been in for 24 years(which as we have seen sometimes happens) will let you all know as soon as I get some new 9 volts.

don't know if the damage occurred in shipping or was prior damage undisclosed, but I've done similar repairs before, costs next to nothing, and considering what I paid for this in the condition it's in(455 shipped), I should just be thankful that I was blessed with another exceptional guitar.

I will have to get that one little piece to fix/repair before the guitar is really solid again, so if anyone has one laying around or knows if I can get it from the mothership, let me know.

here's the pics of it I have so far, can you spot the flaw?

My only guess is the key to the case?? Other than that, looks perfect.

actually, it's the piece of abalone right next to the neck on the right side.. you can see the blue finish thru the rosette, the rosette has or was slapped loose at some point and one of the tiles of abalone fell out and was lost. the only thing currently holding the rosette on the body is tension of the ring on either side of the neck, it's completely loose.

I just got off the phone with Kim K. @ the mothership, unfortunately they no longer tile the pieces into the rosette like they used to, and is now a single piece so no help there unless I buy an entire new rosette for a CL.

anyone have a piece of abalone from an older rosette or a piece of stock that I can cut to fit?
it's hardly noticeable, but I want to make some type of restoration before I reglue the rosette to the body. I'll post pics of the rosette off the guitar in a few minutes.

Thanks,

Glenn

restrung with exp 13s, 4 shims under the saddle(buzzes w/3 came with 4 installed), new duracell installed, quick spit and polish and some oil on the fretboard. and..

This thing is LOUD unplugged, the projection/depth is pretty intense... I believe even more so than my 1619 was.

the preamp/pickup/electronics check out fine, and the stereo out functions well.

the seller has refunded the cost of shipping to cover the repair of the rosette, so I got a very nice 1982 collectors that needs just a minor repair for $420.00

now to find a piece of mop/abalone that matches the thickness/color of the original. I could just affix some silver foil under the rosette and would almost pass, but that would be cheating.

not a bad day, most aren't.
