I have been told about the #1779, but twice I've tried to find it on the Ovation site and did not see it listed there anywhere. If it is there, how can I find it? Just a suggestion though - have someone add a search function on the site so that a search by model number will find pages that are buried.

I do understand the need for Ovation to promote and sell guitars that the buying public currently wants. However, I don't see that as a reason for not having a Custom Legend (-4) with a deep bowl available as a standard product that any dealer could order from your warehouse! It is, after all, the sound that promoted Ovation as a viable instrument, and should ALWAYS be available.

And between you and me, I am way too old to wait for special orders now - "been there, done that." That is why I buy off of ebay or other on-line source if I can't get it through a local dealer within a couple of weeks.

Go to Ovationguitars.com, pick guitars and then pick custom legend. That is where you will find the 1779 as well as 6759,1869.
Are you coming to the factory for the tour? if so, you should tell some people in managment about how you feel about the deep bowls. Who knows, maybe the will listen if enough of you say something.

Thanx for the help. I don't see how I missed it. Unfortunately I can't make the tour. It's too expensive for my S.S. income.

I just visited the site for #1779 and now recall why I was confused. The page for this model gives the impression that it has been discontinued. There is NO picture, and most of the specs. have been deleted/unspecified. It is also listed as only being available in the mid-deep bowl, not the deep bowl.

Have the marketing department determined that the product site should discourage purchase of this model? Who would order it based on this product page? I sure didn't when I was looking for just this model in deep bowl.

The 1779 is the mid-depth bowl. The 1769 would be the deep bowl, if we still built them. Why there is no picture or specs is a mystery to me, we build these guitars everyday! If you are interested, the specs for the 1779 and the 1869 are pretty much the same except for the bowl depth of course.
