Location: Central Oregon | Well I think I'm getting the hang of it.
After discovering that nearly everyone in the civilized world uses a capo (except me), I decided I'd been playing with myself for too long & it's a good thing I finally found some other "stringbox players". (I have an RC-20 Loop Station & it always plays in the same key I do. Go figure.)
I'm probably going to regret this, but what the hell:
A major breakthrough occurred with my "adjustable nut" tribulations when I figured out I was putting it on upside down :p
No wonder it was always in the way....
Now that I have everybody holding their sides laughing-
Some people don't get out much & need pictures, okay? The directions were very clear on how to clomp it on there, but they never said anything about "this end up".
The ones I saw in Bend didn't look like my Shubb, they looked more like big hair clips or something.
I really didn't pay much attention.
Once I got the thing right side up it was loads easier to deal with. So I bought another one for my 175 (the first one was for my Elite 12 & is wider). Then I started seriously screwing around with it. I like being able to play the lead to about anything in about any key. Now I understand better about the "sound you're looking for" mentioned in the other thread, I can make things sound completely different by playing them on a different part of the neck than what I've been doing for the last 40 years. Very interesting.
I've learned a lot hanging around in here, in spite of myself.

I don't care what you have discovered, I am not going to put a capo on my mandolin. UH, would one on the first fret allow an A flat with open strings? |

Nils, have you ever tried stringing your guitars with the bass strings on the upper side?

Tha last time I had A flat I put a new rear tire on my bike. :)
