Location: south of munich, Germany | a friend of mine wants to sell an 1617 from 1981. It has signs of normal use, just some minor scratches (not very much if you take a look at the age), nothing serious..
can you give me an idea of a reasonable price?
thanks

| Tobias; I am terrible with the Ovation numbers?
Is this a classical?
What is the color?
and yeah I guess again it will be difficult for anyone here in the US to give you a fair price considering the cost of shipping from overseas and the risk of recieving this in pieces from shipping dammage? Your not going to want to deal with refunding money on a guitar that is not yours and no one here is going to want to pay a good price to take the risk?
There must be an Ebay source in your country? This will be your best choice?

Location: So. Cal. | 1617 is an acoustic electric Legend (the second digit "6" means electric, otherwise "1" for acoustic only). My first Ovation was a 1617. They were second in rank (under the Custom Legend), terrific guitar and solid sounding. Price is probably under $500 in the US depending upon condition. Play it, if you like it, buy it. |

Location: So. Cal. | I bought it new in 1982-83 in Hong Kong. Sold it to a nice lady (who was about to buy a cheap Applause in Hollywood GC for the same $$ I wanted for my Legend) that I followed outside GC to the parking lot. Used the money to buy the 1987 Collectors. |
