My first Ovation, my Medallion is named "Annie" after the "Annie" of the John Denver song.

OK, Patch ... "Paddy" it is! And thank you for the comment about my photos. Photography is one of my main 'things'! BTW, you're a pretty good photographer, too! I love the set up with the guitars outside of the MS building ... nice and rustic, which highlights the FABULOUSNESS of the guitars! ;)

I call 'em names. But only when they're bad and refuse to play what's coming out of my brain. I'd post some of their nicknames here but it's a family site.

Stonebobbo,

You HAVE to talk nice to them. After all, one gets more flies with honey than vinegar ...

As I think about it the ones that had names have been sold. The only one left is the Delphi that could be called Sonny, since Sonny Landreth's name is inlayed in the fingerboard.

You don't keep them long enough to learn their names. Or you could call them Foster Child #1, Foster Child #2..... :p

O.K., here I am, avid namer of instruments, guitar and otherwise.

1111-4 Balladeer, Gertrude
C868LX-4 Custom Elite, Jewel
Tornado, Jazzey
1758-4 12-string, Hildie (the Big Sister)
97C Parlor, the Princess
1621-4 steel string, Rosa (from San Antonio)
1624-4 classical, Johanna
Guild classical, Jacquita
Galiano mandolin, Plink
Jack's Vega banjo, Twang
Jack's no-brand fiddle, Shriek

They have all had names, and some of Robbie's have ended up with names, too. :D But...all of the names have some significance behind them.
(Some of us have even been known to name our cars.... ;) )

Let's see, what have I named my guitars? The Legend is called "The Legend". The 87C is called "The 87C". The OFC guitar (ding!) is called... well, you get the idea.......

I'm with Stephen on this...I have too many and the factory has given them nice enough names and numbers already...the closest I have come is to name the Adamas -7's and the Ovation -6p's "The A Twins" and "The O Twins"...I do put a piece of tape on each case w/the model number and year just in case I get senile.....uggh, what were we talking about again...???

I clip these to the handles of my cases; saves a lot of scrummaging for the right guitar.

The company gave them nice names and numbers? Gee, Mike, I read through your list, and all those numbers read like some kind of code that you need a special ring for! ;) :D
I've spent a couple years trying to absorb the model numbers that get bandied about here, and still get stumped.
And, somehow, at least for me, the names just seem more social, or personable, or something. Although in the Trader's case, I can see why he wouldn't name them--no name, you can't get too attached to them! (Sorry, Jim, I just couldn't resist...)

Karen, since I have so many, it's the only way I can fit them all in my sig line...there is not enought space to go into detail...hopefully folks will go over to the ning site and view them according to Names and Model numbers... ;)

Some of them. I gave it to my kids as a task, and they haven't done it yet. ONE of 'em will be "Becky" for my all-time crush in high school. I can do that 'cause I'm single now!
