No significant new development, just an ensemble of the current top technology. Therefore, the LX upgrades, contour bowl, bearclaw spruce, VIP, etc. To me, it is nothing special. Sounds pretty much like the Custom Elite LX I had (which was pretty good, but not like the Millenium or the Cootie). Beautiful guitar, yes. Good sound, check. I'm sure they will sell plenty. But I won't get one. I like the 2006 Koa better.

This is the 25th Anniversary of the Collectors Series and I thought they could have come up with something really special to comemorate 25 years. Oh well, what do I know, I'm just an idiot who works in marketing ... Dave

After all, looks are great, but SOUND is where Ovation has always excelled. Maybe they'll do a big 30th Anniversary Collectors like they did with the CL and the Adamas lines.

If they are still only making xx number of Collectors each year, and as I understand it, they must fit into a certain price range too. That limits things. At the same time, it's not the same as the production models, so those that have one of every collector guitar I'm sure will be very happy.

In addition to the new bowl and the voice, the 2005C was almost a beauty for its simplicity...allowing the quality of the Englemman spruce top and the ebony fretboard to "shine". Unless the epaulets were inlaid abalone, the subtle contrast of the epaulets are a great touch. :p :p

I much prefer the walnut most of the time to ebony on bridges/pegheads. I would have done both in the spalt if possible - that would have been something pretty cool.
