Oh Michelle, I am so happy for you! You waited so long and looked so hard, and now it's finally here. I think the best part of getting a new guitar is the inspiration it provides. As easy as Ovations are to play, here's hoping you play so much your fingers get sore! (But it's a GOOD kind of pain! ) ;)

Michelle,

Go HERE and take a look at the 1281 Preacher 6er. It's going on the market shortly. I'm sure we can work something out.

Got it from Glenn and it's in AWESOME condition. Since I got the 1283 PD, this one can go to someone who will play it more than I.

Here's another version of Lover's Cross, complete with spooky zombies singing harmony!

Thanks Allison! I can already hear myself getting better. The neck is so comfortable that I actually really look forward to picking up the guitar again!

I've wanted an Ovation for a long time, but it was when I purchased the Jim Croce DVD and heard "Lover's Cross" that the itch for Ovations got really bad!

Rich, thanks for the tabs! I looked at another site and they didn't have "The Hard Way Every Time", another song of Jim's I really admire.

I never found a good tab for Hard Way. I learned it by watching the dvd. The recording starts with a D capoed at the second fret. The dvd is done without the capo. D, Bm, F#m?, G. I'll show you sometime.
One of the sort of frustrating things about Croce songs is that Maury's part often blends in so well I can't separate it out.

Thanks! I'll definitely have to make it to a gathering then!

What I love about Maury's playing is that he did blend so well with Jim's playing. I have heard that most people don't realize that there are actually two guitars on Jim's songs.

Thanks! What is a lookit? Sorry, but I'm just not able to think right now!

I was practicing guitar up until a few minutes ago. We had a really bad rainstorm followed by humidity. My fingers keep sticking together.

I was kind of hesitant in sharing the pictures of me. I guess it is because I'm somewhat self conscious about being heavy and all. But I just had to show that Patriot guitar. What a beautiful guitar that is!

I'm still working on "Rhymes and Reasons" and "Back Home Again" by John Denver. I still can't get over how much easier it is for me to play those songs using the Ovation.

Oh and Michelle
Just Picked up very inexspensively a beautiful tobacco sunburst Custom Balladeer 1712.
As soon as I figure out how to put pics up I will but I'm not to technical.

Sounds like it is a beautiful guitar. I think Jim Croce had tobacco sunburst balladeer?

Why oh why didn't Jim have an Ovation signature guitar? I know that Martin issued one with his name on it.

He played a 1617 Legend. At the time he was playing Ovations there was only one signature model. Damned if I know why. Everybody was playing Ovations back then....

Oh crap. I thought Jim played a Balladeer and Maury played a Legend. Shows how much I know!

All I know is that the Gibby and Martins he used on the performances featured on his DVD sounded like crap compared to the Ovations!
