Dan Huff is quite a player and singer...too bad after playing on so many other people's rock albums, his own band didn't make the cut. Bad timing I guess. Now he's carved himself a niche in country music as a player and growing ever more popular as a producer with some big name artists. Interesting choice...great song. I haven't heard it in a long time. I'll have to dig out that cd now.

Here are two that got me over the speed limit yesterday: Dude looks like a lady by Areosmith I'm a man by Chicago or Dave Mason or whoever does it. Something about those 2 titles together.

As an added bonus, the incredible Mick Taylor played guitar on some of the album. I tend to think of albums for road trip music ... some favorites include: Bat Out of Hell -- MeatLoaf (and the genius of Todd Rundgren) Scarecrow -- John Mellencamp Hot Rocks -- The Stones Soundtrack from Five Summer Stories -- Honk Hank Wilson's Back -- Leon Russell London Calling -- The Clash (I have a six disc changer. ;) )

My wife and I spent 2 weeks in Maui in April - I love the place, but after about 5 days of nothin but uke, we planned to be in the car all day going down the road to Hana and beyond - off the beaten path. We stopped at Wal-Mart and picked up a live REO Speedwagon CD and it was absolutely glorious to blast Ridin the Storm Out and Roll With the Changes while we were cuttin through the countryside in a convertible. Aja is a good call - Kid Charlamagne is one of my favorite Steely Dan tunes. Is there gas in the car, yes there's gas in the car...made you feel like jesus...did you realize, that you were a champion in their eyes...maybe the most subtle and yet accurate snapshot dealer song. I'm not a Deadhead, but American Beauty got me from Houston to San Antonio a couple of times - Box of Rain, Sugar Magnolia... Freddy King - Goin Down - always makes me stomp on the accelerator. With my big feet out the window...
