As some of you know, I am on vacation in the great state of Tennessee now. Anyhow, I was driving down the road and saw this little guitar shop and decided to stop in and see what they had to offer. (I will not mention the name of the shop, for obvious reasons) As I entered, I was met by two guys, one taking a picture of a guitar, so I said, "oh, going to put one on Ebay?" to which he replied, "oh no,we don't deal on Ebay! We only sell high end guitars on our own site" So I asked what type of guitar they sold, and he (very snooty) said,"we sell Collings and Larrivee". Then I made the big mistake of telling them I played Ovation and Adamas guitars, to which the one guy said,"well around here, we call them .....are you ready for this?.....
BEDPANS".
It was all I could do to keep my composure at that point. So I tried one of their "superior" Collings guitars, and at over 5k, this thing really didn't impress me. I think my Adamas II sounds much better, of course thats a somewhat biased opinion. By the way, They also had a full stock of BANJOS there, which may explain a whole lot!

I love that... Apparently they already decided they didn't want your business.

Insulting your potential customers isn't really good business, not to mention just tasteless in general.

I think what he meant was that they probably didn't carry Ovations because they sound like a guitar should instead of a banjo like the guitars they had.

Jim,

I should have warned you about that store \. I think they look down their nose at Martins and Taylors.

Them.

I have played a Collings guitar $2,300.95 and thats one of the many reasons I play an Ovation.
Larrivee if I was to buy an all wood guitar and could afford it I would consider one of those much better than a Taylor IMHO.
Perfect pitch is when you throw a banjo in a toilet without hitting the rim.

I like banjos.
And I love accordions. You just need to play them the European way.

Snobbery is everywhere and we all pratice it to some degree, even if it's that we feel superior to snobs.

These guys are free to dislike Ovations for whatever reasons they might have, even if it's that they've chosen to focus their business elsewhere.

For my part, I'd choose to focus my business somewhere other than their shop.

No, this one is next to a video store just west of the hubub strip. I guess I'm going to go looking for the 12 foot guitar today. :D
