I like the individual care they provide the songwriters who are signed with them...I was with ASCAP for over 15 years...never heard from them unless I contacted them first...friends in the business had been trying to get me to switch for years...I finally did and I like it...
Nothing really wrong with ASCAP...just time for a change personally...

BTW: an update:

4 songs broke into the top 50 today and one (Hillbilly Highway" is #16 in Bluegrass...

Thanks for all the good wishes...Wow...

I'd like to apply for the position of Hanger-On or Entourage-Member.

I'm really good at getting coffee, and never screw up who gets black and who gets light & sweet. And I'll make sure the limo is on time.

Hiya Mike!

And THANKS! I posted several songs to Sound Click a long while back and promptly forgot all about'em after a month or so. I didn't even know about the ratings, so I swallowed my amateur pride and took a peek. I couldn't believe it. People actually listened to them. I even had a top ten with Mingulay Boat Song ! (Admittedly, it was a category with a relatively small number of songs.) But seriously, who'da thunk?

Here's a link. (I love feedback.)

Patch\'s Sound Click Songs

And here are my rankings, including the song that I contibuted to A Day At The Beach---OFC CD II.

Small Boat (A Sailor's Prayer)
» highest in charts: # 111 (124,096 songs currently listed in Acoustic)
» highest in sub-genre: # 14 (16,118 songs currently listed in Acoustic > Acoustic Folk)

» highest in sub-genre: # 174 (13,000 songs currently listed in Pop > Contemporary Christian)

» highest in charts: # 1012 (104,803 songs currently listed in Pop)
» highest in sub-genre: # 184 (13,000 songs currently listed in Pop > Contemporary Christian)

Remind Us Why
» highest in charts: # 44 (104,803 songs currently listed in Pop)

Ain't that the truth?

But it's fun anyway. :D

BTW, I would've rated Summer Country Slackin' in the top ten too.

It's a start and a good way to get the name out there and get your stuff heard...I have been holding back on doing any of that and Patch is right...people are playing the songs...a lot in some cases...but think of it group; we're charting in catagories where there are thousands of songs...some folks never get played...so, do I plan to get rich? Of course not; at least not from soundclick...but I don;t plan to stop there and I have gotten some industry inquiries as well...and I will be offering them on iTunes and several other sites as well...
Hey, Randy is the one who first suggested I do this almost a year ago...his slack key tunes are first rate and are being played as well they should...
I just enjoy having the digital possibilites that we did not have 10 years ago...it kind of levels the playing field in some respects...

And I'm still playing and writing...
Autographs? Puulleeeze.....that and 25 cents will not buy a cup of coffee...lol

But....

;)

Hey my thanks to Randy who was the one who first suggested I do this almost a year ago...his slack key tunes are first rate and are being played and heard as well they should...

I just enjoy having the digital possibilites that we did not have 10 years ago...it kind of levels the playing field in some respects...The industry is still stuck in the same old tired stuff they always have been...just watch "Can you Duet" or "American Idol" or any of those venues...the "judges" are enough to make you taste bile...

Bottom line is: I'm still playing and writing...
Autographs? Puulleeeze.....that and 25 cents will not buy a cup of coffee...lol

We're all proud of you, Mike. However, this disqualifies you from any future songwriting contest at the Mermaid.

Looking at my Soundclick stats made me laugh at some of them, such as a couple of preamp comparison clips that ended up with enough plays to generate a ranking. Also, a silly Hendrix-ish version of a Christmas song that somehow still gets plays!

Joy to the World
# 425 in Pop. Total songs: 104,858
# 30 in Christmas/Seasonal. Total songs: 2,194

The OFC Members Night Out CD version of "In the Sea" got some plays, as did two versions done by the girls, one straight up and one acoustic only.

In The Sea
# 253 in Acoustic. Total songs: 124,279
# 37 in Acoustic Rock. Total songs: 18,811
In The Sea (Sara and Katie)
# 310 in Acoustic. Total songs: 124,279
# 48 in Acoustic Rock. Total songs: 18,811
In The Sea Acoustic
# 266 in Acoustic. Total songs: 124,279
# 40 in Acoustic Rock. Total songs: 18,811

The one that I think is my best composition recorded so far, "It Hurts to Play the Blues", hasn't charted well.

It Hurts to Play the Blues
# 451 in Blues (highest position was 451). Total songs: 35,741
# 166 in Blues General (highest position was 166). Total songs: 15,072

I'm surprised how well one of mine did, "Jukebox, Jivebox", but not surprised at some of the girls' songs.

Jukebox, Jivebox
# 58 in Blues. Total songs: 35,741
# 27 in Blues Rock. Total songs: 12,452

Capo6
# 127 in Acoustic. Total songs: 124,279
# 17 in Acoustic Rock. Total songs: 18,811
Low Acoustic
# 141 in Acoustic. Total songs: 124,279
# 15 in Acoustic Rock. Total songs: 18,811
Ode
# 718 in Acoustic. Total songs: 124,279
# 121 in Acoustic Rock. Total songs: 18,811
Ornaments
# 388 in Acoustic. Total songs: 124,279
# 96 in Acoustic General. Total songs: 28,200
Pantalones en Fuego
# 906 in Acoustic. Total songs: 124,279
# 160 in Acoustic Rock. Total songs: 18,811
Scabs
# 691 in Acoustic. Total songs: 124,279
# 108 in Acoustic Rock. Total songs: 18,811
