Oh no , and I was about to treat myself to a MAC comp. , I` ve been told that it`s The Best for graphics , so wanted one to use for electronic photography , I was actually negotiating about it , even today... and therefore I let go of an offer for a beautyful SJ -200 from 1997 , not a scratch on it ( belonged to a rec. studio ) , figuring I had more use for that MAC. ,..

I've got McAfee Antivirus installed. Being Unix Leopard is inherently safer than Windows but there's no OS that's immune to the maliciousidiots/geniuses out there.
Seems like the sensible thing to do.

On second thought they decided that the incentive money thrown at them by Norton and McAffee wasn't worth it. Probably a wise decision. Why screw with a good thing.

A lot of mixed messages in that article.

"While Mac-directed exploits are certainly possible, they're not that likely. With Apple nabbing only 9 percent of the overall PC market, there isn't enough incentive for hackers to unleash an outbreak of Mac malware"

Excellent statement

"until there is a confirmed outbreak... ...users can rest easy."

POOR ADVICE. It was that mentality, and THE SAME QOUTE (from FEMA and Centers for Disease Control) that caused so many people to die from Anthrax in the Washington DC area a few years ago.

Granted computer malware is NOT anything like what happened back then, but the mentality of "we'll worry about it after it happens" sickens me, especially when related to safety and security.

Essentially what they are saying is... after you get your identity stolen, credit ruined, and all of your money (for those that have any) removed from your bank account... you should then start using prudent security practices.

E'ffn MORONS!!!!!

But Apple/Mac users are just Nicer People!
Therefore they would not create a virus for Mac.

Don't you watch the ads?

If general percentages hold, there's probably about 500 or so OFC members using Macs. Mac will never dominate the world, nor will it go away. To each his own ...

If you take into account those with multiple personalities it's more like 67%.

Did you have to take a vote before deciding to say that?

Cliff: Interesting little article here. It says that, uh... the average human being only uses seventeen percent of his brain. Boy, you realize what that means? We don't use a full, uh... sixty-four percent.
Norm: Some don't use even more.
