I just got this guitar a few days ago. I returned a defective guitar and got the CSE44, and the guy at Sam Ash felt bad, so he threw in a case (8158) and a set of strings for free.

I know it's not a US made Ovation, but how does this guitar rank among the Ovations?

The build quality and set up seem great, and it sounds wonderfull.

Also... Is the 8158 case the right case for this model?

I just got a CC44. Yours has a Solid Top, mine is plywood (high-pressure laminate). I am satisfied. Mine compares well to my 1621, Solid top Artist Bowl.
The Ovation site lists an 8210-0 as the proper case, with the guitar listing,
But the case listing sez that 8158 is also for mid and deep-bowls.
Don't know which one I got...

Enjoy your guitar, if the case fits, Cool!
You don't play the case.

edit-- My case is 8210-0

Thank you. I heard it at the open mic last night for the first time in a live setting. I let a friend of mine play it, and it sounded amazing.

The case seems to fit fine too, so I guess it's one of the right ones.

Thanks again.

I gotta do that... (what?) Sit down, and hear my guitars from the front.
I realized that Ovations sound much different from behind, because of the bowl.
I let my buddy, Tom (wood-box owner) play mine, and he said it sounded strange. Then said that it sounded better when I played it.

So... Perspective is Everything.
