I am thinking about ordering a new Ovation Legend 1717. I noticed the price on the new 1717 model is a lot higher than what they go for used. Is it worth to get new 1717 with the updated pre-amp all everything or should I hold off until I find something used and save some cash? Are the older models more desirable? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I am new to this forum and am really glad I stumbled across it. A lot of great advice and info. :)

Used varies case by case. (except where no case is included.)

If the guitar is well maintained, and feels and sounds good....I probably choose used over new. Not just because I'm frugal...
(the difference between frugal and cheap.
I'm frugal, you're cheap.)

....but even on an Ovation, the aging top can give a warmer sound. Not that I'd notice, it just has to that's all.

Hmmm... How much money are we talking about?
How much do you want all those nifty buttons to play with?
[tuner, pre-shape, shift, notch...]
Would you like a brand-spanking-new guitar, or a well-seasoned one?

Those are all things to consider...
I know this may not be helpful, cuz you've already thought of this.
But I think that I would go for the older-seasoned-cheap one!
But I'm poor!

[No, I'm Poor! You're Cheap! :p ]

Setting aside the price factor -- if both guitars "sing" to me -- I'd choose new over used, just because that makes me the original owner and I get to enjoy the benefits of the lifetime factory warranty.
