| I am getting ready to wire the vol/tone assembly for the UKXII... I am using Gretsch Alnico Filtertrons for pickups.. wired LP style, 500k cts pots, and am wondering if I should go with 47,33,or 22 tone caps... and would a treble bleed cap/resistor help keep things nice and bright for a 12 string?
suggestions? I am not opposed to using Hovlands or other PIO (vitamin Q) caps.. and am open to all input.. so I might have better output :p
my DIY finish job will be complete next week sometime... so far, so good...
Thanks in advance..

I don't think you'll be able to hear any difference between a $25 boutique PIO cap and a $2 Orange Drop, particularly in a tone control. To choose the value, why not just buy a selection and test? Same thing for the treble bypass, just attach a cap with clipleads and see how you like it.
A Bill Lawrence Q-filter might be interesting: http://www.billlawrence.com/Pages/Pickup_Window/Q-Filter.htm

| lots to consider... the re-refinish of the body is coming along nicely... sanded all the way back down.. then lite primer, wetsand, another light primer, wetsand, blue sapphire metallic basecoat, wetsand, another color coat, wetsand, just got done with the green candy trans over the color coat,
then will blue trans over the candy to get as close to the headstock blue/green as I can..
looks like it will be close... then some fairy dust(fine glitter) then clearcoat over all of it.. probably another week on the paint and finish..
built a template for mounting/soldering up the pots and wiring... still undecided on the caps but will probably go with .033 spragues and treble bleed caps/resistors..
yer right Mwoody it's nice to have a project..
