I need to adjust the truss-rod on my Ultra. The adjustment dohickie is inside the sound-hole, so I'm guessing it is a Kaman-bar.
Anyway, the sucker won't move. And I am skeered to push it too hard. On a old-time truss-rod I would just soak the nut down with oil, and wait... But on this the hex-hole is sunk into the wood, inside the body.
How do I lubricate this, or what do I do?

Location: Copenhagen Denmark | Arthur,when in doubt,go and see a luthier,by all means,but when a truss-rod has not been moved for awhile,than it`s "stuck" to the nut,that way it will not loosen by itself,whenever I adjust mine`s,then I have to apply great force,and then there`s a loud " TUCK " ,it sounds quite frightening,but then the truss moves,I usually turn the tool no more than 1/5 of a turn pr.day,( Make Sure Tool Fits Snugly in Trussrod !! ) Good Luck :)

Location: New South Wales, Australia | I'd take Vic's advice Arthur. Any time something has to be tightened or loosened I'm always the person who goes just too far. When it comes to my guitar I'm always worried that I'm gonna do some damage so I seek out a professional who knows (or claims to know) what they're doing. |
