My 1991 1769 Custom Legend Deep Bowl cutaway slides off my lap. Always has. I seem to remember, back when I bought it, Ovation had not addressed this issue yet, but soon thereafter did.... because I remember friends' and bandmates' cheaper Ovations (Celebritys and Applause) having a thin rubber "pad" or "patch" on the bottom. I searched the internet and could not find a picture, but definitely remember such.

So I decided to DIY something, and thought I'd post here for those interested.

Using this product, which is a thin rubber pad you place on your leg so the guitar doesn't slide

I cut it to the proper shape; on my bowl there was an area on the bottom that seemed to be left a little "rougher" than the rest of the bowl, perhaps Ovation's 1st attempt at addressing the issue? I copied that shape so the rubber would wrap around the bowl's shoulder properly.

Then using this product, secured it to the guitar

And the result is what I remember Ovation finally getting around to back in the day... works great.

Not sure how this forum software works, ( checked the box for "add a photo or file after posting", but it did not prompt me to do such:
