FYI: I finally found a used Fishman Reverb pedal for under 200 and linked it to my Aphex Acoustic Xciter: FANTASTIC!

I will now fervently recommend the FISHMAN AFX REVERB ; The Acoustic Xciter has been discussed here already.... All I can say is HOLY COW!!

It justifies calling the 1117 a "Legend"!

Cool. I don't know if posted samples would do it justice, but we'd like to hear it, maybe the same lick with and without?

It's probably pretty hard to find any box that will come close to the gorgeous natural reverb you guys got when you recorded in the church… but it's hard to tweak the sound of a church… ;)

On a somewhat related subject, did you mention that you have used a Zoom H4N? Good? Bad? Ugly?

I'm afraid that my old Legend is going to need a neck reset and fretboard leveling relatively soon. I may get booted from the BFLG for admitting this; but I really don't have the proper tools, skills nor experience to tackle that myself. I know the mantra; "send it to Mother," but I really don't know if it's worth that investment, despite my fondness for the old 1117's…

Yes, I do have the Zoom H4. I really like it for the point-and-shoot function (stereo, great for rehearsals, clubs). I find the rest of it a bit too tricky, especially the 4-track function. My tune "Carbon 14" is the Zoom H4 in my kitchen, pure acoustic (Adamas 1581). It's the "Kitchen Reverb" effect that supports me and my mechanical "accompanists" (Radel Tabla and Drone).

So you are right: nothing beats the natural setting. When I have a moment I can post A and B versions of my new effects.

BTW: did you ever install pickups in the 1117?

No, I shelved that project for now. I have been playing the 2080 when I want to plug in. Different sound, but quite satisfying… ;)
