then sending it to the factory. I'd have them install an OpPro and clean it up. For about $600, you'd have the perfect guitar with which to gig.

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Agreed. I have the 1984 1567 Legend version in a SSB configuration which I use as a rehearsal guitar. With the soundhole covered, it does real well in a band mix. The old bursts are beautifully done. The only problem I encountered is the location of the stacked volume knob. I'm not a fan of the stacked controls in this location because they come in contact with my arm and I'm often inadvertently turning the volume down to zero. Removing the knobb from the post helps, but then you lose some control utility. This may not be an issue for players with different body builds, or on a deep bowl where the control post is located a bit farther from the top edge. |

Location: Jet City | I totally agree Paul, and in fact did almost just what you're saying.
I had a 1667 (first cutaway Legend) with the stacked knobby at the waist. I bought an OP50 (with the XLR) and took a trip to see Woodford across the water. He busted out the dremel and we got the OP50 in there.
THe guitar was outstanding and was my main gigging guitar until I let it go (to Alison) after I replaced it with the Al DIMeola |
