Location: Snåsa, Norway | Last night I discovered that a chip had come of the nut on my 12-string, causing one string to buzz on the fret. Think I'll replace both nut and saddle with bone, seems to be a nice project to start on DIY luthiery. Do I need to have special nut files, or can I get some ordinary small files to do the slots? Any recommendations on where to get bone blanks for nut and saddle (I live in Norway) |

Can't you get walrus ivory in Norway? I don't know of anywhere to get walrus ivory, but i live far from the coast about 500 kilometers south of the Polar Circle, so there aren't any walruses round here. ;)
I checked out the Tusq web page , and think I order directly from there. They hav a pre-slotted nut that have same measures as the original, so that'll save me the time and money in getting tools and fiddling around with them.
So, Jason, I'm very thankful for your offer, but wont need blanks now. :) |
