It used to be made with grade AAA cedar (instead of AA in 2000 model) in the 80s. Is it good?

Still made of AAA cedar Even the lower priced S773 is a AAA top.All USA cedar tops are AAA
we don't buy a lower grade of cedar.

On Ovation's Web site, it says Legend nylon string (1863) uses grade AA wood.

S773 uses grade A wood only. Do you work for Ovation since you used "we" in your message?

Correct,All cedar tops are AAA when they arrive we grade the best of these for high dollar guitars and downgrade to lower models. But all are the highest quality. Each top is inspected at different stages of production.Which I'm sure you'll see at the tour.
