He never said it was just for the US. Did the malt & hops diminish your reading comprehension?

2. No, I do not want to make this site for UK people only, this thread is simply intended for me to (and other UK citiznes) to try and find out a product that I could go and buy, by name, that might help them take care of their Ovation. Yes even though it's a US product we, in the UK are allowed to buy it here!
You can buy Ovations but not crumpets?

3. If my questions annoy you, simply ignore them! Simple. Do you realy have to respond?
At first it wasn't your questions, but your attitude and ingratitude plus your inability/unwillingness to use Google. Now you're just being a pain in the collective arse/bum/rump (Google is my friend).

4. What crumpets? Do you have a brand in mind? It ought to be pointed out that crumpets are no longer available in the UK since the European Union legislation had it's way.
BS for the third time. In your case Google is NOT your friend!

Jeez man chill! Is it me or are you unreasonably aggressive?
Whoa!!! You're the one that called potential competitive bidders "swine", AFTER you posted the eBarf link! Then basically said no biggie after being called to task and given some very beneficial advice.

-- Many thanks everyone else for being kind enough to post some links to help, it's really appreciated.
Too bad you didn't utilize 'em...

BTW, my mineral oil shipment offer is still on the table. PM me if you're capable of appreciating the American spirit.

Mineral oil is ubiquitous. The stuff is used for massages, at least that's what they use in chinatown, it's also used for your wife's chopping blocks and .... as a laxative.

Your local drug store will have it in the laxative section. It's the stuff for human consumption. Any brand will do.

It really isn't a mystery product. Except at the mineral oil fan club ... thanks to Cliff's link I'm now a member.

It would seem I have pissed off some people, sorry, that was not my intention.

I thought a bit a cheeky banter was the form here, clearly not.

The mineral-oil/bee's-wax combination is sometimes called bee oil or bee's oil.

Anyone else dumb enough to admit he was dumb enough to click on Cliff's link?
I did, Amazing actually!

While were on this where can I find Crumpets in the States? I want to try them on my fret board.

Hey 2ifbyC, we got there in the end! ;-)

Seriously thought MNAY thanks for the help, I'm happy to pay, of course I'm starting to wonder whether you have added some O eating additive to the MO to teach me a lesson! Damn there I go again with my perhaps misjudged sense of humour / humor?

Now are we all "kissed and made up"? I hope so! Yeah I might have been a little arsey and for that once again please accept my apologies, I didn't mean to offend. I still think you lot a nuts though ;-)

I swear by mineral oil!
I've even freed up a stuck oil ring in one of my garden tractors with a healthy dose in the gas tank in the form of Marvel Mystery Oil. Great stuff!!!
I wouldn't recommend that brand for an "O" though...

Hello - Some of you may know I'm from God's Own County, Yorkshire in the UK ! Whopeeeeeee!
What's the problem with slightly fragranced baby oil if that's what mineral oil is ?
If you went into the Pharmacy where my wife works (although they don't sell it) you would be recommended baby oil. Johnson's Baby Oil contains: Parafin Liquidum, Isopropyl Palmitate (this is of a detergent composition and actualy has a US Patent ! My wife is aware it is used by Denists) and Parfum. (Perfume)
Sounds like the real deal to me.

Noper, even this 'Colonialist' appreciates that one.

That's true, I never debated that. Although our 'tree rats', aka squirrels, suffer the opposite condition...

The only thing better than mineral oil for a fretboard is a tablespoon of beeswax melted in to about a cup full of mineral oil.

Fretboards deteriorate mainly from the oils and acids from out fingers. I'm sure everyone's seen the wear marks around the "D chord" fingerings before. Most people assume the person playing it had long fingernails, or just got a bit overzealous playing Neil Young songs, but really it's all about the acids and oils. Everyone's acidy levels are different, and some people can be more toxic on a fretboard than others.

Mineral Oil does a great job of conditioning and treating the fretboard. I love treating an old unloved fretboard and watching it just suck up the oil. The results can be dramatic.

However if you want to protect the fretboard against those nasty fingers of yours, the optimum concoction is what I've just described above. The beeswax will give it a harder surface that's more resilient.

It's a pain in the ass to go buy 100% mineral oil, then find the beeswax, then melt the beeswax, only to use less than an ounce on a fretboard. You should discard the mixture after using it. Now it becomes rather costly doing it.

THE SOLUTION IS, the very first thing I posted. Use the $5 Guitar Honey (that will last a loooong time), or look for bees-oil as stated above. Or you could just condition it with 100% mineral oil and not worry about protecting it. Your choice.

FYI, it's the acids, oils, and liquids that will kill an expensive cutting board (butcher block). This mixture is the best to use for them as well.
