Joined: June 2006 Posts: 3 Location: Miami | You guys crack me up. I came across the auction on ebay and decided that I got to have it. Not for the price though. Turns out they are in Miami :-) Called them up and went over to check out the guitar. Instantly, love at first sight. Told them I have seen the guitar up for auction the past 6-7 months and has not sold. Worked something out and ended up paying $200 clean. Now, after all this, I just purchase my first guitar, a custom legend 1619 with a 2nd sound hole. Bought some new dean markley strings and a beginner guitar book. The sound is very good and mellow and holds on to a note for a while. That is not all, just look at it it's a precious. Everyday I look forward to playing the guitar. It is fun just running some scales. Now I want to know what else I can do the guitar? Maybe new pickups, or have fixed the broken piece into place? Decided to turn to the pros. Can you help?

The Custom Legend is among the finest guitars in the entire Ovation line, and older 1619's (in decent shape) often sell on eBay for several hundred dollars more than what you paid for yours, so congratulations! If you really love the guitar as much as much as your post suggests, I'd seriously consider contacting Kim Keller or John Budney at Ovation Customer Service and discussing with them the possibility of having a new top put on. It's not as expensive a proposition as you might think, and at the end of the day you have a vintage, US made Ovation in like-brand-new condtion for a total investment of well under a grand. It's something to consider. Again, welcome to the forum and keep pickin' :)

I grew up in the area known (then) as Westchester. I don't think they call it that anymore, but the house I grew up in was between Coral Way and Bird Road (N to S), and Galloway Road and SW 97th AV (E to W).
