Location: CA | The flamed version is not my particular cup of tea (Don't know why, but every time I see one I get the urge to open the hood and look for a blown hemi), but my gray 1778T is by far the nicest sounding guitar I've ever owned. After decades of just plunking around, it's inspired me to get better. Hopefully, your son will feel the same way. |

If it has a truss rod cover, then it's an LX with X-bracing.
If NO truss rod cover, it's pre-LX and has the older fan bracing. The GCXT has fan bracing WITH truss rod cover. Must be some kind of Guitar Center mutt. |

Those may be real flames on that guitar! (not sure what roll the caulking next to it plays) |

Location: Eaton Rapids Michigan | Hi folks, my son got his new guitar a couple of hours ago, and loves it!! (1778Elite "T"). Truth be told I'm dying to pick it up and play, but he hasn't let it go since he opened it!! We plugged it into our little fender amp and it sounded great! Now if he would just learn another song besides "Wish You Were Here". (: Thanks to everyone for your input and your thoughtful comments which helped answer the questions I had about the care and feeding of these fine guitars, and if you have any other closing thoughts please share them. ( Like what do you use to clean them, and do you use a soundhole humidifier with these, etc...)
Thanks again,
Bill
PS: It must be an LX cuz it's got the truss rod cover on it.! |

Location: Eaton Rapids Michigan | Jim, there's a great JT interview in the latest American Songwriter
www.americansongwriter.com
Did you catch him on SNL last weekend...I guess with the writer's strike they've been running old shows and there he was, circa '95 or '96, doin that Oh, Lucy, lord have mercy...song. Gotxta love that custom Olson he was playin' back then...little pricey for a guy on a social worker's salary though!
PS: I just got to noodle around with the "O"...and I think it stands for "Oh man, what a guitar!!" (: |
