Don't know. Elite's already pretty damned good. I want one! Now Al's Elite dreadnaught is a different animal. The bowl is shaped differently to accommodate a different shaped top. It's definitely got more oommph than a 1537. Al will sell it, but it won't be cheap...

Cal. | Paul, The sound of this one is completely superior to the 1537's that I have seen (not many, mind you); but it's definitely one of the best there is. I am keeping it... until you die first (otherwise, you get the Adamas nylon proto... as agreed).

Whether we are talking about Al's wood top Adamas or a pre-production slothead, these are amazing guitars, worth far more than they sell for. When Michael entrusted me with the custodianship of the pre-production #50, I finally realized what Cliff, Michael, Beal, and the few others had been saying. And, to think that before I joined the OFC, I had never paid more than $650 for a guitar.

Elite's already pretty damned good. ... I don't know. That's why I'm asking all these questions. I know the 1537 is a GREAT guitar and sounds and plays great. That's why I would have to give serious thought and consideration to any idea of changing one. I love the 1537 sound, but I'm also big into the visual appearance of thes instruments. I'va always been mesmerized by the sheer beauty of the Adamas I models. I know ... some people think the "caulflower head" is gaudy, some people feel the same about a lot of abalone, and some people don't care for the look of koa, but I like it all. ... The ole "cake and eat it" philosophy.

And what you would have would be ... well, an adamas neck and bridge on a 1537. It would probably not alter the sound, yet it would cist you plenty. Rather than limit yourself, why not just sit down with a clean sheet of paper and build a new guitar from the ground up? And you'd still have your 1537, or could even sell it intact to fund the new one. How about the wooden 1537 style binding WITH abalone trim? Maybe a cutaway? Just an idea ...

I would think that starting from the ground up on a custom Adamas would be unreachable for my pocketbook. That's why I was looking at the other option.
