I'm kind of partial to a nice glass of Vintage Port at the end of a nice dinner. Something about the same age as me.

There are some really nice Pinot Noirs produced in my local area ... Monterey County is good for the grape (try Chalone Vineyards) but the Carneros region of Napa County really shines too.

A good chianti is first choice for reds, followed by cab-sauv.

My favorite vineyard would have to be here in the NW...Chateau St. Michelle, either Cab or Riesling. Amy and I have shared many a bottle...

Guess I have affinity to good fellowship at a particular winery...Chateau St. Michelle when I had the 4th Landing Support Bn. at Sand Point (Seattle), Sokol Blosser when I was with the 6th Engineer Support Bn in Portland. Even Blitz beer in Portland (from the old days at Univ. of Oregon. They always were more than hospitable to thirst Marines. And, I came back for cases.

I have had many a port and cigar at Mess Nights and Dining In's (with spouses). Often with our comrades from Canada - the Seaforth Highlanders. They would always bring the Regimental Piper. Nothing better than a drunk piper.

As to now, Metaxa (in rememberance of Callimachus of Athens and Alexander), Drambuie (in remberence of Malcom III Caennmoor and Charles) and , and cheap Brandy.
