Location: Utah | We inherited a mattress from the spare bedroom of a smoker. 20 years of smoke infiltration made it smell like an ashtray. The wife vacuumed the hell out of it and then used Febreeze a couple of times. No more smoke smell, no strange alternate odor. |

Location: Milford, MI | You are right MWOODY: My $300.00 guitar just cost me $400.00 in flowers and plants for the yard today. Could I say no? Not a chance. lol. And yes, Tobacco Burst. |

You can probably use the vinegar on the bowl and the case. I wouldn't use the vinegar on the top. |

Location: South of most, North of few | I bought a Gibson once and as soon as I got near the box it reeked of cigarette smoke. I called the seller and said "I probably should have asked this earlier, but do you smoke?" He replied "no, but my wife does". She is 80 years old and he said he couldn't stop her now. Can't imagine what their house smells like. I have since learned to ask before consummating the deal.
Oh, congrats on what I would consider a great deal on the 1115. |

Location: Texas | My stinky 1115 came from a very reputable "old" dealer (closer to tremor's neck of the woods,) yet they never mentioned the smell in their detailed description of the condition of the guitar. In fairness, I never followed-up with them about it after the guitar arrived, because it was a very fair price, even with the odor.
I don't recall seeing too many listings for guitars that mention; "good condition, but stinks" There must be an unwritten rule that odor is not considered a defect. Gotta add that to the list of questions to always ask…
But, to try to get back to discussing tremor's (now $700) ;) guitar… the 1115's I've played are REALLY loud. I have several Lyrachord Ovations, and I think they sound great, so I have no disrespect for Lyrachord, yet I wonder if some of the exceptional volume and tone on my 1115 may be due in part to the fact that it does appear to have a fiberglass bowl?
I don't know if any (or all) 1115's were originally made with fiberglass bowls, Lyrachord Bowls, or some of each… |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | Just my 2¢... I haven't smoked in Months, but when I did smoke I didn't notice the smell.
So it was well off of my radar as anything to report.
So any and all of my guitars probably smelled like smoke when I got them.
Also, now that I have quit I can smell cigarette smoke from a block away...
But I still don't notice that smell on my guitars, although I am sure that any guitar that I had before October 09 probably smells like smoke to a sensitive nose.
So, I am just saying that to a smoker there is probably nothing to report.
Smokers just assume everybody smokes, or did smoke.
Didn't everybody smoke in the 70's? When they were 65¢ a pack....
Before we all got suddenly Healthy? :p |
