Joined: November 2006 Posts: 62 Location: Canada | Hi there, I just signed up. Glad I found this site as I'm a proud new owner of an Applause single cuttaway roundback, with the old original headstock style, oval fretboard markers. I'll post pictures ASAP (as soon as it arrives, that is - eBay). I've been playing semi-professionaly for around 20 years; Electric Guitar, Bass and Acoustic. This Applause will be my second Kaman guitar as my very first was an Applause Strat copy (still have it) back in 1986. I'm looking forward to meeting other Ovation players and trading stories and info. My acquiring this latest guitar is a story in itself as it is the result of a growing obsession that none of my gear-savvy fellow musicians understand (I'm sure that might sound familiar to some). Anyway, I'm going to spend some time on the search function here to see what I can find. 'Bye for now. PS I know the Applause is a budget, entry-level instrument. I was attracted to this particular one for its price and looks (and older 'vintage'). I'm not ruling out getting a high-end USA model some day so I won't be one of those posters who claims that his "Squier is every bit as good as a '57 Strat", so to speak. That said - and this isn't meant to brag - but I can generally get most guitars to 'work for me'. Looking forward to visiting here more often.

Sometimes around here you have to have skin a tough as a "Lycrachord Bowl". :D I've been looking at a Sunburst Ultra at a local Pawn shop. Only decent Ovation they have but they want too much for it,($500). I'll wait a few weeks and if it's still there maybe offer them $250. Enjoy your guitar and this forum. Lots of knowledge here, Unfortunately I'm not the one who has it. :(

I see that you have been treated with the usual consideration and courtesy we are so noted for. Be that as it may, this is the place to come if your favorite pet dies, a bad diagnosis shows up in your family, a job goes south--and you're not even playing a country western tune. (Anything you learn about our exceptional instruments may be strictly coincidental. ;) ) --Karen

My wife took it away and gave it to the kid next door for an early Christmas present. Guess that means it's OK to get another guitar!

Might even fit in the Boxster. Right now, the choice of taking a guitar or my wife causes me some concern. Usually have to take a bigger car to carry both.
