Man!!!

I must be the luckiest guy on the planet!
When I first met my Wife-To-Be, I was collecting guitars, all things band AND campaigning a bracket one drag car AND building a custom van.
She has never questioned anything I was looking to purchase (unless she thought it wasn't a good deal.. Thanks Honey!) I once mentioned to her that I had seen this weird Ovation solid body bass at my favorite pawn shop. The next time I went in, it was gone. Bummer.. Well at least till my birthday rolled around.. And guess what? There was that same gray Magnum sitting on the kitchen table.
I guess she'd get pissed if I was out buying guitars (or speed parts or tools or what ever,) if we couldn't make our house payment or something. As long as our obligations have been met, her paycheck is hers to spend and mine is mine. I have been a working musician since I was 16 and my playing money normally ends up being my "playing money". Besides she really likes shoes... Who am I to judge.
We just celebrated our 25th anniversary and I'm a happy guy!
If you check out my photo gallery, you can see just a small portion of the stuff I have acquired over the years with my wife's help and approval.
Besides guitars are an investment with a better return than most savings accounts.
For those of you that have a problem getting the "wifely approval", maybe your approach just needs work.

There is no real solution...... and this looks like as good a place to share this as any.

"Since the onset of the menopause was confusing my husband, he got me a mood ring to wear so he could easily tell what mood I was in.

He found out that when I am happy, the ring was green. When I am unhappy, the ring leaves a big fucking red mark on his forehead.

Maybe next time the bastard will buy me flowers."

( After 28 years of successfull marriage I do consider myself very fortunate that my wife and I still love and respect each other as much as we do. I am particularly glad she is such a lousy shot....but that was a long time ago and time heals all wounds.... ;) )

As for me, I'm just kidding as well. I wouldn't trade my better half for anything and she's been allowing me my, um, idiocyncracies (that sounds polite, right?) for coming up on 24 years. I don't have a whole lot full of guitars but I've never needed much to keep me happy. I'll get what I want in time and, if I don't, well it's probably just as well. What I have sounds just fine on the deck by the pool. Like I say, I'm not heading out on tour anytime soon...(but I do come home every night). ;)

Somehow I got one that doesn't really care for flowers or shoes. Years ago she decided she doesn't even need a new dress for annual special occasions. She does like a new car every few years, although she prefers reliability over pizzazz and her desire for a new house every decade has been the biggest thorn in our marriage. If she had more faults, I'd probably have more guitars.

Wow, interesting thread. I feel very lucky. about 3 years ago my wife decided pulling all my guitars out of the closet and getting me back into playing (after about a 12 year break) would be a good stress reliever for me. My job is intense and deadline driven, so playing would make me healthier! Her idea, honest! Then she decided guitars were beautiful and she wanted to decorate different areas by putting guitars on the wall. I have bought 5 guitars since then, with her encouragement. She is constantly telling me I need to buy some more guitars and which walls she wants to put them on!

Last December I bought her new furniture, put in the home theater we both have been wanting and we are finishing up a balcony that has been under construction for 10 months. So I also have lots of guitar "points" built up. What really sucks is after buying all that stuff for her and bills from my FKing heart attack, It's gonna be a while before any new guitars find there way into my house.

But I really love the guitars I have and even better I have a great wife I love even more than the guitars! Oh, and I survived the heart attack! So, Life is great! :D
