Nice thing about having 'grown-up' (like me) women for neighbors... They have been cooking Holiday Dinners since they were little girls helping Grammy. And they ain't gonna stop now. Rumor has it that Ham is on the menu. [No intoxicating drinkables or smokeables on the menu, but a Cap'n Morgan hot toddy sound great!]

Now I may need to pick up another for the holiday as this one is nearly gone. SWMBO is not pleased.

All of this then topped off with a transcendent Madeira and a fine cigar (for me) in the hot tub with my wife. Oh yeah, baby.

The only thing missing is yucca (taro root), usually boiled like a potato and then smothered in mojo (minced garlic lightly sauteed in olive oil & finished with lime juice). We can't find ANY yucca in this podunk town in North Central West Virginia where my in-laws live.

Joined: January 2006 Posts: 1478 Location: Michigan | g8r , I was just down in the Keys last month and I noticed alot of resturaunts and roadside Bar-B-Qs listing Cuban sandwiches. They seem to be a Chickencordonblue sandwich on great home baked bread with pickles and mustard .The one I had was delicious but I had to have it minus pickles & mustard cause seeds give me Diverticulitous and Mustard is not my style.Does Moma g8r do those for lunch? Man I can taste the one I had last month down there. Happy Holidays to Ya. GWB

Cold Beer, Sav Blanc, Shiraz and Ports with Coffee and Chocolates - then I roll home. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to everyone of you and your families.

We will have the traditional (at least here in the South) ham and turkey, green beans, candied yams, dressing, rice and gravy, cranberry sauce, hot buttered rolls...topped off with a fresh piece of apple pie a la mode. Just thinking about it makes me want to go take a nap. Happy holiday wishes to you and yours!!
