Hey everyone! Glad to find this forum.

I've already checked the following two Ovation guitar serial number references:

http://www.ovationgallery.com/serial-list.htm
http://www.ovationfanclub.com/serials.asp

No go. The serial number on my Ovation Celebrity CC057 is 9016368. I can't seem to find this format in any serial number reference.

Any information? I'm hoping to (at least) get the year, if not anything else.

Thanks!

- Matt

Hi Matt.

I don't believe that the Celebrities' serial numbers are included in that database. I'm not 100% sure how sequential they are, although it would seem to make sense...

I have a Celeb Collectors from 2000 that has serial 9044791, and a Celeb Deluxe from 1996 with number 7010683, so best guess (based on a sequence) is that yours is from somewhere around 1998/1999 give or take. That's a huge shot in the dark, though. I'm sure someone here will set me right shortly...

I'll take a stab at this one, even though I'm taking some pretty incredible drugs after knee replacement last week. I think I remember an explanation some months back that went something like this:
Celebrities, unlike US-made Ovations, are made in multiple factories. Factories are given blocks of serial numbers and apply them, but because of the multiple factories (and multiple models?) involved, the numbers can't be tied to dates of production. And if that's wrong, it was in one of those weird dreams that come from mixing oxycodone and celebrex.
