I have been using notch filter on my acoustic amp. They are effective in reducing feedback but do they by their nature reduce the full sound of the guitar?

As I understand how they work, it cuts a slim notch out of the sound freq spectrum. But it's worth getting rid of that slim slice, to be feedback free.

Assuming it is a narrow notch, one would have too have a really good ear to hear the difference.
