| New to posting on the forum, and I wanted feedback on tuning. I have a Pinnacle 12 string and a Ultra 6 string. Both guitars have D'Addario custom lights with stepped down tuning, because it sounds fuller and brighter. My Ultra is tuned open F for slack key. Chimes at the 5th, 7th, and 10th fret are crisper and really zings. Whenever I capo, no matter where, sustain is non existent, which is ideal for some songs. At standard G, I get too much ringing. The Pinnacle is tuned standard at F#, with capo on the 1st. This makes it easier for my arthritic fingers to grip the neck and hold the strings. Besides, I read somewhere that it puts less stress on the truss. I play for the simple enjoyment of playing and relaxing. Not many around here in my part of Ohio that kanikapila. I also have a Kamaka baritone and home made koa 6 string uke high G. I am 73 years young, retired Army, and I let my music take me back to my hunna butta days. |
