This may be a dumb question but my preliminary searches have turned up empty. I received my USA 1778T and it's like new. In fact I don't think the Op Pro preamp had ever been removed because it still had the little plastic zip tie in place. But I have to say that it's TIGHT!

This is my fourth Ovation and it's the first that does not just pop out when the release button is pressed. This does pop up when pressed but only about 3/16" making it difficult to get my fingers on to raise out of the can. Is there an adjustment to the installation of the can that would give bit more clearance on the release side of the pre-amp? Will they actually 'break-in' and loosen with time and use?

Other than this very minor non-issue it's in stellar condition. Pretty pleased so far all the way around. Not sure you can do much better for the price. Might just get the XLR treatment as well....

deja vu..

you might try loosening the can a bit and wiggling it around a bit and then just tighten it back down to see if that helps. It might not be seated correctly or the screws may be over-tightened and distorting the can.

Loosen the can screws, seat the can on one end of the hole and push down, snug in one side. Then pull the other side open slightly and snug it in as well. Not over tightening is the key here. Install and remove the preamp a couple of times, adjusting as you go, until its how you want it. Mine are just a bit snug, but removeable with just a little pull.

It should get better over time, but how many times do you plan on removing it?
