Location: Capital District, NY, USA Minor Outlying Islands | I read the newest issue of guitar player magazine (which had a lot of good info) and they had a review of 6 of Guild's newest gits. What I recall from the article is that Fender bought Guild, moved production to the Tacoma factory, stopped making Tacoma's then bought ovation and moved Guild production to the ovation factory, and have stopped making USA ovations and adamas except by special order.
Interesting thing is, the only american acoustic guitars i've owned have been, Guilds, tacomas and ovations. The next american guitar I buy, I'll tell Fender so they'll know what company to buy!
I don't know what it means, either, but most of the electric guitars I've owned have been either Fenders of Fender copies.
Oh yeah, they had a great review of the deacon, but ruined the review at the end by saying it's hump made it look like it had cancer or something like that. Shit heads.
I guess it's like that song, you don't know what you got 'till it's gone |

They closed the Rhode Island plant, then moved production to Corona, then to the Tacoma plant, then to New Hartford.
Incidently, the Guild I used to own was all mahogany, top and sides, a dreadnaught shape with an arched back. Fender should do a reissue ... the cool thing is when I went to visit my sister this summer I got to play it again. |
