Hi folks,

I have the perfect gigging Guitar for sale!

It's a model 1612 with the serial number 344497. That dates it to '85-'86. I want to say first and foremost that there are no cracks in the finish and the top has opened up nicely soundwise. However, there are two small dings on the upper bout (See picture with the dime for reference.) and a small ding in the bowl about the same size as the ones on the bout. There is also a spot on the back of the headstock (Again, see the pic.) that seems to be some sort of adhesive. (I don't know how it got there as I've had this guitar loaned out for a while. I think it will come off without a problem.) The one other thing of note can't be seen in the pictures: As we know, the battery boxes on these have a cushion between them and the bowl. When I bought this one used a couple of years ago, that cushion had gone missing! I cut up a kitchen sponge and fit it in there! Works fine! I have since talked to Kim at the mothership; he could not supply a replacement but said my solution was as good as anything he would have done! Praise from Caesar!

That's it for negatives. This one sounds beautiful. The pick-up works fine. It has good action and is presently strung with flat-wound strings. I'll add a set of phosphor bronzes to the deal if you like. I got all the specs from the Ovation site:

Body Type: Deep Bowl
Top: Sitka Spruce A
Bracing: Ovation Modified X
Scale Length: 25 1/4"
Fretboard: Ebony
Fret Inlay: 15 Pearl
Bridge: Walnut
Pickup: Piezoelectric
Nutwidth: 1 11/16"
Machines: Deluxe Chrome

I don't have a hard shell case for it, but it will ship well-packed! If you want, I do have a used Taylor gigbag I'll throw in for $45. The bag's in used but very good condition.

Now for the fun part! I've never sold one of these, so I' going to ask what I think is a fair price fully in the confidence that at least one of you will be opinionated enough to let me know (tactfully if sarcastically  ) if I'm completely out of line! The asking price is $425.00 OBO + $40 shipping (covers insurance for the purchase + shipping).

This is the first time I've tried to load pictures. If it doesn't work, I'll be glad to email them. This is going on Ebay and Craigs List too. I welcome all comments.

I played a 1612 for years, nice guitar, (mind had a truss rod cover) if the frets are primo it would be a good buy, the older they get the better they sound..i liked the pinned bridge assembly, better construction..

The frets have some wear (the thing is 20 years old after all  ), but I don't think they need replacing any time soon. It really is in great shape for its age.
