Location: Wisconsin | I could use some advice. I still don't own an Ovation, but am committed to remedy that. The problem is, VERY FEW local music stores stock Ovations. This means internet shopping. Can I trust build quality of Ovations sight-unseen? (Like I can with Hamers?) The Ovation number game has me confused as well... Which model to choose?
Here are my parameters:
Used.
Under $500 w/case.
USA made.
Mid-depth bowl.
Are there any specific questions to ask sellers? Any insight is appreciated.
Big Thanks!

Like any online or mail order sale you need to trust the vendor. So ask questions get them answered to your satisfaction or don't. If you have a reason not to trust someone then you will never feel good about the deal.
I personally have done hundreds of mail order deals. No everyone has been satisfied with me. I found that usually that happened when there was some sort of misunderstanding with the buyer. So be as specific as you have to be.
Try to ask others where they had good experiences and try those places.
good luck
as for the number thing
think
balladeer legend round hole
elite and adamas epaulets
this goes for USA models of course.
anything custom or special etc has fancy binding or neck inlays etc. |

| Don,
I would start with the Ovation website referenced here under Links and identify the model you want. Next, go to sellers that are Ovation oriented. This site has some great models (ask Al) available in the For Sale section. There are other websites that sell used Ovations and are actual music stores. Then there's the local Recycler where you can shop locally and try the guitars before you commit. Last, there's Ebay where Al's advice is right on the money. Hope this helps.
