I have a question.
I had seen first hand what happens when a good guitar player gets Carpal tunnel. It was a really good up and coming band that was playing in Wisconsin. They even had a big break opening for a concert later that summer.

I want to make sure that I don’t land in the same situation. Does anybody know some good stretching exercises, or a web site that shows me some stuff? I don’t want to start getting decent at playing the guitar and then land in this situation.

Thanks

I and my son and many people I know have been playing for years and no one has had a carpal problem. I think the position of normal stringed instrument playing is quite natural as it has evolved over many years. Stories of carpal tunnel disablement may be unique to that player from a congenital problem. Play the way the guitar is designed and the worse you should have is sore fingers, that you can cure by building up callouses by heavy playing.

Don't worry, be happy

Correct posture & technique will help minimise risks, warm-up exersises are a good idea. You might find some information here:
