I've only had my Deacon for a few weeks and it happened... I was tuning up to play at church and it died. Luckily a teenager loaned me his Strat on the spot and I was okay. Here's my question:

Did I kill the batteries by leaving a cable plugged in , over a week's time, while I wasn't playing it, or did they die of natural causes?

Left the cable plugged in :( There is a switch in the circuit to only turn on the pre-amnp when it's plugged in.
