Location: Brighty in Blighty | Just wondering what the general feeling is regards the various bowl sizes/shapes. Now I appreciate that some bowls suit certain guitars but this is really about which bowls you prefer not which guitars you prefer |

Location: Brighty in Blighty | I love the look of my 06C & 07C but not a fan of the contour. Was thinking of sending the Koa to MS and having the bowl changed to a mid! |

Location: Jet City | I voted, but I also think there are variables to this question. I suppose there's a favorite for gigging live, and a favorite for sitting around the house, and another fav even for when I'm playing with a bunch of loud dreads... and so on. |

Location: Vernon CT | As stated above different senarios for different bowls. Acoustically a Deep bowl for volume and tone. Plugged in a Mid depth bowl for comfort and
Playability. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | I know that Standingovation at one time was working on the Adjustable Depth Guitar. The bowl was fashioned after the same technology employed in those "collapsable drinking cups". Basically you could slide the guitar bowl into any number of preset depths. The prototype he was working on had a safety stop to prevent you from collapsing it so far as to damage the electronics and bracing. Unfortunately he forgot to put a stop on the outward movement and in the demo he showed me, he played a big old open E chord and pulled the damn top right off the bowl!
COLLAPSABLE
Personally I think the choice of bowl depth is like choosing socks. I usually, but not always, try to pick ones that match my slacks. I've also been told that it looks doofy to wear socks with sandals but I don't care.

Location: GA USA | I've played a bunch of deep bowls at jams, but I'm about to get my first one. I hope I like it as well as the mids I've had. For band playing, I may look for a shallow bowl down the road. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I didn't like the contour bowl initially because I didn't find it comfortable. My belly has grown since then, so it fits better now and I like the sound. Still prefer the deep bowls, though. The contour still isn't as comfortable when I kick back the lazy boy and play toward the ceiling. But that's probably just important to me. |

Mid-Depth is cool for standing. SSB's are better if you're plugged-in.
(I currently do not own an SSB. I need to go shopping, huh?) |

But not so many listed the Contour as the Favorite Bowl. :confused:
Actually I am not that confused, cuz I like the contour but it is not my "Favorite"...
For me that is cuz I prefer the Mid-depth standing. But I can sit-down with any of them.
YMMV if you are alittle wider than I! ;) |
