FlySig asks:
"OMA, out of curiousity, how many different songs do you play while Busking? Do you need a permit in Portland?"

First... I do not Sing. I can barely talk.
I wouldn't really think of doing it for a Job... I just go out and play.
While I am at it I collect money. It's a way of keeping score.
I usually only play for an hour or two. (Really, I play until I have to take a leak!)
I usually do not play all the way through my limited repertoire.
So about a dozen songs, maybe more. I really need to make a list someday.
(Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Moody Blues, ELP, Beatles, Animals)
I live in downtown Portland, so I play within walking distance of my building. 3-6 Blocks.

I have No Idea if I am supposed to have a Permit! [I don't need no steenking permit!]
In Portland, we have panhandlers on every exit ramp.
Beggars standing outside of every market with "Spare Change, God Bless" signs.
People find it refreshing (I hope) to see people playing music, or at least trying.
It also kinda forces interaction with the passersby.

The term comes from the Spanish word buscar, meaning "to seek". (To seek fame and fortune, or at least enough tips to buy some lunch.) Now before you all think I'm really smart or something, I just looked it up on Wiki. ;)
