I just wanna to know what's "chop liver" meaning? Chopped liver is a meat product purchased at the grocery store. It is quite simply ground up liver of a cow or pig. It is then injected into paper or plastic tubes or casings about 2 inches in diameter. You then slice it off to put on bread. Some people like it, others can't stand to eat it. I like mine with mayonnaise. Other names for it are Liver Sausage, Liverwurst and Braunschweiger. It is one of the cheapest things in the meat case.
By saying, "What am I? chopped liver?" An American is asking if the other person feels they are of little value, like chopped liver. Most times it is said in jest. Other times the person asking the question is somewhat offended, but not very often. I think the original poster was saying so in jest. |
