I thought I could steal one in Brazil (or somewhere down there) that was on a foreign ebay. It was in perfect shape and being sold by a guy that found it in his apt when he moved in... Anyway, it went for more than 800 + shipping. So I don't think there is anything close to stealth snagging one. Looks as if this one could go over a grand...yikes.

As far as I know, the 1614 is essentially the 1114 Folklore but with electronics, made in the same years with identical construction and materials.....but I'm often wrong. I love the twelve fret/wide necks and have an 82 1114 "Burst" in essentially the same great shape that I value, but wouldn't have thought would be go for a grand!!, so what am I missing about why the 1614 model is so sought after?

Beyond the beauty of the colour, I guess it's possible that production runs could have varied making the "burst" ovations and "brown" Adamas and others I suspect, a littler less available today. Good to know. Thanks for the advice fellas.

Hopefully the winner plans on keeping it. It appears to be leaving the investment range and heading quickly to the hobby range.

I'd pay $500 max for a perfect example. But someone else is willing to pay $1125 today. A month or two of bad economic news might get you one for $350. Who knows? There are only two bidders in this auction, and one has only 5 feedback. Maybe not indicative of the value of this model. Sunburst do come up for sale every couple months. -Steve W.
