I did a search here and Bill Nichols name came up a few times so I visited his page He sure has some nice Work. I asked for a quote for a Kokopelli Dude on Ebony wood, with Abalone inlay. His page does not have prices so I guess when I get the quote I'll either have sticker shock or fork out the cash. I wonder if I should Have Bill Make a wider TRC but still use the single existing screw hole. any sugestion welcome. just no Grass skirt wearin, coconut bra packin, raised, sculpted TRC's (That could be the Official OFC TRC to go with our OFC Strap). I'm going for the refined look. (of course that little Kokopelli dude has quite the Legend behind him) :D ![]() Kokopelli Bill Nichols

I going to have him make me another one soon. He does get backlogged sometimes. It took a couple months to get mine but it was well worth the wait.

It does the job it was designed to do and that is cover up the Truss rod access but I think that area could be a nice place for a little customized adornment. I have not gotten a quote from Mr Nichols yet. MWoody sure, I have been thinking of actually looking into what it would take for me to make another cover out of another wood. I've also, been eyeballing my Sons dremel kit. I just might try a little inlay, can't say for sure just thinking about it PZavislak they look good! the one in the center reminds me of the symbol Prince used for awhile, Sorry couldn't resist. :D

No trinket. And the OFC store is offline. Maybe I'll see if Miles can bring some to the OFC PNW party.

Paying an extra $20-30 for a guitar doesn't even make us blink because of the total cost. yet, for an item we think should be $30-50, that extra $20 seems to be a deal breaker. Just my opinion but if the inlay is what you want and the work is from a proven source that you know to be excellent, spend the extra and be happy with the results.

The actual piece all though it does have nice components IE: Ebony, abalone, koa, pearl, it is the labor and skill that we are really contracting and I get a really cool piece of Guitar art, WHOOPI, Hell I'm in. I'm going for it. Bill's page has lots of his work but what really caught my eye were the guitars he builds. Lots of inlay. I changed a few things on the Kokopelli and I'm designing my own shape of TRC so in the end it will be truly Custom. Can't Wait. :D

Joined: December 2003 Posts: 13996 Location: Upper Left USA | I have a Bill Nichols TRC that I got for my 1974 Custom Balladeer 1112-1. This was my first Ovation. I had actually sold it and had to retreive it after finding this site and a new found appreciation of Ovations. My best hope for an ebay sale would be less than $300 and the TRC was right around $90. It's still worth it because it was a way to celebrate what I had and where I was. For some things its not the money. Trust me, I am cheap. I had to sell a decent guitar (Breadwinner) to pay for the Hotel and plane fare to go spent a sleepless weekend with a bunch of people I met in an Internet Chatroom and play their guitars! Priceless!
