What are you O owners using for cases?

Will anything else work for protection and, more importantly, humidity control? Right now, I have my 2178 in the cardboard box with a homemade humidifier (damp sponge in a Tupperware container with holes punched in it).

Here are some options: Place a want add in the for sale section. Look at ebay and craigs list. Buy one of the new cases, which should work. Try them out at GC. Try out a bunch of non-ovation cases. At least get yourself a gig bag and hang the guitar in the closet. Get a tribal gig bag. Get one of those form foam cases. Anything but a box. Good luck.

It's been discussed ad nauseum here, but I prefer to leave all my guitars on hangers. For me, a guitar in its case doesn't get played. Of course, in Florida I don't have much of a humidity problem. Even in winter it rarely gets below 45% RH in the house.

Expensive? cheaper than fixing a guitar that got damaged cuz it was sitting in a box. I would like to find a better case for the Tornado though. It's original case is the flimsy cardboard kind. Used ones are around. Heck I even found a case for a solidbody at a pawn shop not long ago. I picked it up for Woody.

I have one for my 1112-1 I'm trying to sell. Got it up at G.C. It runs $89.00 to $99.00. I actually Modified the case by taking the "Ovation" off my old broken Brown Ovation case and with Double coated Tape and 2 small screws attached it up where the "headstock" sits in the case. I couldn't put it anywhere else as that was the only "Flat" spot on the case.

I did buy a vintage hardshell case for the 39 D18 since it came with a newer one but that's the only time I tried for a certain case. The newer guitars all came with cases and when I make a guitar or need a case I just get a TKL that will fit.

My preference is always to use nylon-covered hard cases due to their lighter weight, straps, and the fact that they are easier on everything else that they come in contact with. All the Ovation and other manufacturers' OHCs are stored in the basement and rarely get used. The only exception might be a long trip.

When were the brown lined cases made approximately? The seller also included a soft Ovation vinyl cover, what is the purpose of this?

So I'm guessing that this case once went with a spendy Ovation. I've never actually handled one, but it is to protect the case. Maybe add alittle more temperature protection... Who knows? We were discussing these awhile back. Some members swear by them. Most of us thought it was alittle anal-retentive. It will keep your case from getting scuffed-up.
